Ready but Not Ready

Ready but not Ready

Within the last month, all projects and maintenance work has come together. We hauled out and spent 11 days on the hard. We did everything. We polished, painted, demasted the mast, installed a new water maker and a satellite telephone. We were originally planning to leave this weekend, the 29th of June but the sailing gods seemed to have other planes for us.

At the begging of May, I got my pic done for a new passport. My current one expires June 2023 but since we were planning on being who knows where at that time, I figured it would be easier to just renew it now. At the time, they told me I would be able to pick it up in 3 weeks, which is this week. As you may have guessed, no passport. This seems to be due to the machine that is used to make the passports for all of Sweden, is located in Finland and needs new parts which are hard to come by. Who would of thought that Finland makes Swedish passports 🤔.

I am not the only one affected by this. There seems to be 100,000+ people waiting for their passport. Hopefully, I will receive mine next week. If not, then we will start our journey and depending on where we are at the time, I may need to take a train back to Landskrona just to pick up my new passport.

The other thing that the sailing gods threw at us was certain medicine we ordered for the boat medical kit will not be ready until the middle of next week. There is not much we can do about this except wait until we can pick it up.

Since we not got an extra week before we leave, we can get some other jobs done that we were going to complete while we were underway. Below you can see that Viking Goddess is ready to go.
